Instead of owning the vehicle outright, your allowance covers the cost of a three-year lease, which includes everything you need for stress-free motoring — from insurance and servicing to tyre replacement and roadside assistance.

Who Is Eligible?
You can apply to join the Motability Scheme if you receive one of the following benefits and have at least 12 months remaining on your award:
Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

2. Use your mobility allowance Your lease is paid directly to Motability Operations Ltd by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK — so there’s no need to worry about managing payments yourself.
3. Advance Payment (if required) Some cars may require an Advance Payment if their cost is higher than your weekly mobility allowance. However, many models are available with £0 Advance Payment, meaning your allowance covers the full cost of the lease.
4. Enjoy worry-free motoring Your Motability lease includes:
Comprehensive insurance (for up to three drivers)
Servicing, maintenance, and repairs
Road tax
Tyre and windscreen replacement
RAC breakdown cover
All you need to do is add fuel or charge your car — everything else is taken care of.
5. Return or renew your car
After three years, simply return your car and, if you wish, choose a new one. The process is quick and straightforward, helping you stay on the road in a safe and modern vehicle.
